Biography
Dr. Wodwaski is a registered nurse/clinical nurse specialist with experience in emergency, maternal–child health, medical–surgical nursing and the cardiac catheterization lab. Her expertise spans maternal-child nursing, critical care, curriculum redesign, mentorship, emotional intelligence and leadership in nursing education and governance—always framed within values-based, student-centered and equity-focused practice.
Dr. Wodwaski's academic and clinical interests include artificial intelligence in nursing, breastfeeding, emotional intelligence, mentoring and parish nursing. She is committed to improving health outcomes at the patient, student and community levels through evidence-based practice and education. Dr. Wodwaski is especially dedicated to fostering emotional intelligence and expressive caring in nursing students to prepare them for compassionate, patient-centered practice.
At Detroit Mercy, Dr. Wodwaski spearheaded a major 120-credit B.S.N. redesign, fully aligned to AACN 2021 Essentials, COPA model and CJM framework. She also designed curriculum embedding 1-credit simulation every semester, plus Immersion I and II (year-long clinical experiences). She has expertise in teaching and weaving CJM (NCSBN Layer 3), EI and communication strategies into courses.
Dr. Wodwaski serves as secretary and health policy committee member/advocate for the American Nurses Association Michigan and is an MNSA advisor.
