Biography
Aman Gupta teaches pharmacology and applied clinical therapeutics to dental, dental hygiene and post-graduate dental residents at Detroit Mercy. At the College of Health Professions, she teaches physician assistant students, and at the School of Optometry, she instructs first- and second-year students. She joined the University in 2017.
Professor Gupta's interests inlude keeping students informed of the current and new drug information and facilitating interdisciplinary communication. She helps students understand the rationale and learn correct methods of prescription writing. She guides dental students in reviewing their patients’ medication histories and ensures they demonstrate competency in the safe and effective use of medications.
Professor Gupta is actively involved in conducting case-based learning for all levels of students. Her knowledge and expertise are focused on topics such as clinical pharmacology of local anesthetics, acute and long-term effects of immunosuppressant and anti-cancer therapies in the craniofacial complex, evidence-based pain control treatments for patients with substance use disorders, interventions for tobacco use cessation and management of patients with bleeding disorders.
In addition to her passion for teaching, Gupta serves on the Public Policy Committee of the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP) and participates in several University committees.
Gupta holds an M.D. with a specialty in pharmacology and has done additional training in rehabilitation and management of musculoskeletal injuries. Drawing on her experience working with athletes, she introduces students to sports dentistry and the role of injury and performance enhancing mouthguards.
In her spare time, Gupta enjoys leisurely social and trail bicycle rides.
